Sarah McLean’s new book, The Power of Attentionis filled with wisdom about the importance of learning to be fully present in this one, precious life. This week I’ve been thinking about–and, more importantly, noticing–all the ways I’m not quite true to myself. Below is the passage that’s been on my mind, and cheers to a week of paying attention

“Whenever you override what matters to you in favor of others’ opinions or wishes, you can gradually become alienated from the subtle nuances of your interior world. You lose yourself, becoming less committed to your values, less aware of what you really need, less able to speak your truth, and less able to tap into your own center point of peace. You become distracted from your real life.” p.94
